J.B. Norris our Friend is Gone

With a heavy heart we are putting the news up about the death of one of our TEAM members and that is J.B. Norris. J.B. was also one of my buddies and we both had the love of AMA Flat Track motorcycle racing in our blood and we had each other's respect for what we do.
J.B. was a BIG guy standing over 6 foot 3 inches tall and weighing up over that 300 pound mark and with those figures and then add smoking you can almost guess he died of a massive heart attack. J.B. was in the pit area doing what he did best and that was getting close to the racer and finding out what their plan of attack was on that tricky race track in Lima, Ohio. The EMT's worked on him as soon as he fainted but the 'BIG GUY' needed J.B. to announce upstairs and so now we mourn our buddy, friend, TEAM member, and one of the best announcers in the business.
Some of you became friends with him as he traveled around the past few years with our events. J.B. announced for our Monster Trucks and Arena Cross races in such places like Salisbury, Salem, Casper, Billings, Loveland, Sioux Falls, Belton, Cape G, Dayton, Florence, and AMA Dirt Track races in Hutchinson, Sturgis, and Rapid City.
J.B. we already miss you buddy and your legacy will not easily be forgotten.

MONSTER SUMMER
With the Winter Nationals ending with one of the BIGGEST SHOWS on the PLANET inside the IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY HOLT ARENA we are now focusing on the outdoor schedule for CFP.
The Race Track
For the 2008-2009-2010 Racing Season we have signed contract with the City of Dodge City and Ford County, Kansas to run their Dodge City Raceway Park. That facility was built with taxpayer money from sales tax option they call “Y NOT DODGE?” and was designed to help provide and appropriate funds to draw people to town and help the tourism business. Dodge City was for years a tourist stop when GUNSMOKE television show was on the air in prime time. Since that show is not part of the new culture Dodge City needs new reasons for tourism and the Race Track can be it if properly promoted – that’s where we come in.
Back in the 1980’s we promoted the old facility down in the Dodge City Park and we were very successful. That venue was built in the 1930’s this new facility was built only 8 years ago and it is state of the art. Musco lighting and asphalt parking in the pit are with water and electricity at each pit spot with some of the best clay ever found make the facility known as the Premiere Dirt Track in the Nation. Check it out at www.dodgecityraceway.com we are excited about the possibilities which seem to be endless.
Our race schedule for the DCRP will feature plenty of racing for the local enthusiast with all different types of race cars featured on Saturday nights including Stock Cars and Modifieds sanctioned by the IMCA and the Sprint Cars which are sanctioned by the NCRA and URSS. We also have two other entry level divisions we call Hornets and Thunder Cars. Both of these race cars can be built for fewer than 2,000 dollars!
Special events are sometimes added on Friday nights as well as Sunday’s. One of the Special events is 2 nights of World of Outlaw Sprint Cars on June 20th- 21st. This event has over 50,000 dollar purse and will draw spectators from as far away as the West Coast; in fact tickets are on sale now online go to this link - www.dodgecityraceway.com/tickets.
Sprint Cars, Stock Cars, and even School Bus races with the CFP CREW flair is gonna be big fun this summer!
Monster Truck Races
After such an exciting points race Sean Duhon driving the T Maxx Monster Truck for the Sudden Impact Racing Team took the Championship! This summer you will see them at most of our events and his own Brandon Legarde says next year his team is going one-two for the Championship. This year it was T Maxx, and then Rob French with Twisted Dragon, and third place was Rick Long with Bigfoot.
There are great events this summer on our CFP Spring Nationals and also our Summer Slam Series check out our schedule page by clicking to this link www.dodgecityraceway.com/schedule . We have some new venues and returning of course to some of our favorite places. The main thing is our ‘A’ team is going on the road to make sure each event is better than ever before. Zane Rettew and Mike Fonder are one heck of a team. Zane’s energy and Mike’s experience and the “Want To” attitude of our truck line-up of owner and drivers raise the bar each event. As owner of the company I sit back and say GO GET EM!
BAD BOYS OF ARENACROSS
This year several of the events will feature our Bad Boys of Arenacross Races. We are so proud of our Arenacross series we are even doing it at selected Summer Events. We have a new website www.badboysofarenacross.com that our in house artist and web guy has just put online. Gary Kidd is more in this office as a graphic artist, for sure but his ability is widespread and when you meet this guy you can tell his compassion for the Arenacross Series is what we needed all along. We want to experience the sellouts for the series and with sponsorship opportunities corporate America is noticing our record crowds and they are excited about the Arenacross events we have done and those we are working on now.
We are excited to say the least about our upcoming events and these new projects and we hope you can sit down, buckle up, and come with us the ride of your life as the CFP CREW is on a rocket to the Stars!
Seeya!

WE HAVE A WINNER!
What an event
Pocatello was! Here's a quick rundown of how the night went over:
Quick Qualifier wound
up being Kevin King in Sudden Impact, followed by Sean Duhon in T-Maxx.
As it turns out, those two (they're teammates, too...remember!?) met in
the Racing Finals where Duhon was able to get it done and take the
Racing win.
In Freestyle it was no
holds barred! Kevin King drew first blood and would be the test
pilot for the night. Kevin started by walking up a four step
pyramid, which just ignited the crowd. After that it was AIRTIME
for Kevin! Kevin took Sudden Impact over one of the two bus jumps
and wound up coming down so hard on the concrete that the right rear
tire and wheel snapped off just after touching down.
A couple of runs later
Rob French came up vowing to catch some big air, and delivered on the
promise he had made. On his final hit, Rob got some BIG air off
the one bus jump but wasn't 100% straight, nosing
into the side of the
other bus stack, throwing the truck up on two wheels. Rob stabbed
the gas pedal and turned into it, but even with the motor pegging the
rev limiter the concrete didn't let Rob get it saved. It was close
to coming back to all fours, but the Twisted Dragon Monster Corvette
wound up laying over on its side and slid to a halt.
Sean Duhon came
out a little later and just made people's jaws DROP! Sean
definitely had one of the biggest jumps of the night and was able to
place 3rd in Freestyle with a 26, only behind Kevin King and Sudden
Impact's 28, and Rob French's winning perfect 30 in Twisted Dragon!
After all was said and
done, points tallied and calculated, it was Sean Duhon's spectacular
night in both the Racing AND Freestyle divisions of the event that let
Sean hold onto the lead to become the 2008 CFP Monster Truck Winter
Nationals Points Champion!
